My First Lamp Transformation

I'm on the ROLL with DIY projects ! My ikea floor lamp shade which is made of Japanese paper was torn since Eliya became mobile. Tear was getting bigger and bigger as Eliya gets older. When the shade was really torn, Eliya lost interest in it....

This awful lamp was sitting in a cramp up corner of the living room... such a WASTE and a sight-of-sore-eye.

Last weekend, after 1 year procrastinating, I fixed the lamp ! The lamp will be in Eliya's room so I picked a design that suits her... pink. The picture above is the before and after make-over. I am too embarrassed to upload the picture of the torn up lamp.

The room feels so different with nice blinds and a cool floor lamp.

My First DIY Project

Since moving into my current unit mid last year (that's ONE and a HALF years ago), we have been procrastinating on our window finishing. Our temporary solution was hanging up throw blankets. It was really not shabby. I hated it so much, everyday I wake up, this sight of sore eye greeted me.

So one fine day, went on the internet, research on some blinds and how much it costs. I bought 6 beautiful venetian bamboo blinds for HALF PRICE !

All I need was a screwdriver and some elbow and shoulder grease...

Now both bedrooms have a gorgeous warm feeling. And a right arm that feels like falling off. Getting the screw in the wood panels with a manual screwdriver is a kick-ass workout... but because I'm right-handed, I only get a workout on my right arm !!!

After hanging the blinds, riding on a "DIY" momentum, I tackled the bathroom door. My place a federation building. Not sure why but the doors has two long patterned glass window panels. Not much of a privacy, anyway... I bought some window tint film from Bunnings, stick on the panels.... taa daa... a bathroom with some privacy :)

Now.... my hands are itching to get a light hand held drill.... I am trawling in the web for some promo price. Wish me luck :)

My First Baby Jealousy

Potential Babysitter ?
I think Kwan is feeling the same but certainly for me !

Last Saturday, I met up with Uncle Steve and Gan for lunch. Saturday's is usually my turn to be a full-time parent... my bonding session with Eliya :) So I brought Eliya along with fingers crossed hoping she will behave herself.

Eliya was an absolute ANGEL ! Not a single squeak, winged nor demand. Uncle Steve had her all under control. She even held his hand while walking.... that she NEVER does with mummy or daddy. It was unbelievable. Uncle Steve offered his hand and she held until she got tired as Uncle Steve's hand was very high for her to reach.

I offered my hand later... she would just turn away and run wherever that catches her eye... sigh...
