My Cooking Journal

My first "fried" rice. Actually it's the healthy variation... hehehe...

My stir "fried" mix veggie.

Today I tried steaming fish... *gosh*... it tastes like rubber... Guessed I've over-steamed the blardi fish... Mom, Dad, Honey... no worries, I'm improving ;-p I made salad too, very nice. Was too hungry to snap a picture... hur hur hur...

My Scenic Ferry Trip

This the daily ferry trip taken by people who travels to the city. It's so scenic ! Probably it's my first trip ;-p
Get to soak up the morning sun, enjoy the picturesque view of the Opera H
ouse and Harbor Bridge.

Oh... I was shopping for my groceries one day, and guess what I found? DURIAN at Woolworths aka Woolies Strange... I don't the smell infamously "attractive" aroma. And the fruit was not wrap up. Wonder whether is the fruit genetically change to suit people here.. ;-p

My First Event

http://city2surf.sunherald.com.au/index.asp

Today went for Australia's largest community event charity run. The run started from Sydney city to Bondi beach. The crowd was unbelievable! 64,000+ participants plus another massive crowd for spectators like myself who went straight to Bondi beach... hehehe... I was too late for the registration lar... otherwise would have entered the event ;-p Will make up for the actual run in the next event in September, Blackmores Sydney Running Festival (9km Bridge Run)

http://www.runthebridge.com.au

Bondi beach is actually quite nice. But all I could see were PEOPLE. Just too crowded. Maybe next time I would be able to enjoy Bondi beach. Because of the crowd, it took me like a good hour plus just to find a parking space ! Good thing about today, lots lots lots of eye candies, surfer dudes, sun worshipers and beach bums. So today me eyes are slightly tired from the over exertion... hehehe... We had lunch by the beach on the grass turf and bottles of beer ! The weather was absolutely superb, warm, the way I like it ;-) But later in the afternoon, weather dipped. I was feeling rather gung-ho / macho, left my jacket in the car. So was shivering ! Can't sustain... bought me-self a jumper ;-p And checked ourselves in a little quaint cafe for hot coffee and *slurp* sinfulllll desert. Ooooohhh more eye candy waiters, they were French, sexy accent... HIAKS!

On a side note, in 2 weeks time my hubby is coming here. I'm so looking forward for his arrival !!! but but but... I'm having this lingering thought in my mind... I would be sharing my personal space with some one. I know it is expected when a couple gets married. In fact some couples just move in together without getting married, cohabit. Because of my situation and express relationship. I don't really know his "habits" yet. I was explaining to my new friends today. They said I was really daring. They were right, I just followed my gut feeling, followed my heart. I will be sharing my life here with some one special and dear to me. Any habits will have to tolerate lar...

My Cooking Escapade

My thoughts wondered back home and got the inspiration from how Chinese hawker stalls prepare those bowls of noodles with such ease. So this time I tried cooking noodles. Easiest I could think of... fish ball noodles soup. Just boil right and lots lots lots of chillies. Turn out quite edible and the amount is way too much for one person to eat ! Got the ingredients from a nearby Chinese/Asian grocery shop. The meal was full of veggies and fish balls. I actually bought the smallest pack of every ingredient. Turns out when I start to boil them, everything expanded! The meal could easily feed 3-4 person... ai yoh... there goes my diet. Need to hit the gym for some intensive workout.I was browsing around the Asian groceries, found a ready-made miso soup. Hehehe... Quite nice especially added heaps of seaweed & pounds of tofu. I got to learn how to start cooking for smaller portion... sigh....On a positive note, I'm beginning to enjoy cooking... Mom, Dad, Dear... no worries, I'm well fed !

(p/s: The pictures were not the meals that I dish out... hehehe... shy lar... soon when I've improved on my cooking skills , I'll upload the actual pictures. Then you'll guess whether
it a dish I actually made ;-p)

My First Pubbing Nite

Friday night, it about time I check out the night scene in the city. Traffic Jam ! It was bumper to bumper entering the city. Guess this is normal no matter where I go. Traffic jam is unavoidable.

I went to meet up some new friends at this pub in the city. Nice place :-)
This place is amazingly crowded. I had to queue for 15mins just to enter. I had just one drink as I was driving home later. It was really nice for a hang out for a change with people around my age. I met up with 3 very career driven ladies and a gentlemen, 2 Malaysians gals, a Vietnamese and a German guy.

The place: http://www.theargyle.biz/
After drinks went for pizza. We have an accountant (myself ;-p), a stock broker, a PR consultant (who is Lyn as well) and 2 corp consultants. After digesting food & more drinks, our small party starts to "lively and loud"... hehehe... We were laughing non-stop in this small corner Italian restaurant. It was fun!!! Tomorrow will be joining them again. Not for partying lar... next post coming up soon, one of the biggest event in Sydney.

My Cooking Experience

I'm through with can food & frozen meals... besides filling up the tummy, it's expanding me...

So tried me hands with food. Started with salad, no cooking involved. Easy peasy. Just toss some veggie together. Not that simple ! The first couple of rounds, the salad taste just awful, not even edible. Now, after close to 3 mths here, I can say that I make quite a decent salad. One problem, same problem with my mom, I don't know how to proportion the meal ! A meal meant for one person turn out to feed supposedly 2-3 people. So how? Finish the food all by myself... ;-p I must admit the after feeling was so uncomfortable.

Next, tried to actually cook. Canned food... just throw into the pan and boil. So I throw in rice & veggie and boil. Guess what I had? Purple rice with veggie. The colour came from the purple cabbage that I throw in... heheheh... taste-wise it's ok... just add lots lots lost of chilli and have glasses of wine. Any food consumed will taste so pleasant, HIAKS!

The other day, I baked fish... and I cheated. I bought a ready-marinated fish fillet. Fish is well done but... the fish was too salty & not fresh... yeech...

Today made soup, my first ABC soup. I'm not sure why it's called ABC, perhaps as basic as ABC? Ingredients; parsnips, onion, celery & carrot. Not bad, it's edible. ;-p

Didn't want to eat out most of the time. Felt rather lonely & selfish, occupying a table just for myself when other tables were couples, families & parties... Besides, eating out is rather pricey. Unlike back in KL, cheap food comes everywhere, was being spoiled for choices lar. Every corner is either a mamak stall or chinese hawkers. Or can eat at home, mommy's cooking. Dear mom, how I appreciate your efforts now.

Dear God

I pray that my hubby can cook decent meals.
I don't mind washing up.

Praying hard, sincerely,
Lynn

KICKBOX - A non stop cardio kickboxing class, punching and kicking combinations led by two experienced instructors

This class was really scarry! punching non-stop plus the gloves were blardi HEAVY! adding on with jumping jacks, runing sprints... It was CRAZY. Not gonna attend again.. my arms & shoulders are so aching now. Coz I went for Combat after the class... hehehe...
BODYATTACK
Weekend, Sunday, went for Body Attack. I must admit, seldom do I attend this class back in KL. I was REALLY A GOOD class! The instructor is the GXFM of FF Dee Why, she is GOOD! Motivating! Consequences, now I walk with a limp, especially climbing up & down the stairs. My calf muscles are sore... but the feeling is so nice... hehehe... Yes, I'm insane. The achy feeling seems to be addictive, and I did sweat alot. FYI, it's winter. Normally, during rpm class, i would have flooded the bike with my sweat, but now, just a couple of drips trickling down. So Attack class will be one my favourite classes from now on ;-p

Swimming pool in the club will next on my gym agenda. The pool is so inviting while working out on the cardio machines. Need to choose a time where there's the minimum number of people attending gym. MALU lar....hahahaha....

The only missing while attending gym classes is my gym-mates. Classes here are so QUIET! No response from the floor of participants. Really it's no fun. To all my Gym Bunny friends... I miss you guys so so much...

My First Out Of The Ordinary BodyBalance Class

I've been going gym for a number of years now. Today, attended BodyBalance class, and guess what I encountered? One of the participants, a senior aged man, wore short tights, only tights. Yes, he was half naked. I have an excuse, I came from an Asian country, rather conservative lar. However, other Aussie participants were looking/staring at this old man too ! Not sure what is on his mind... perhaps the following picture could explain it ;-p

This morning did the routine thing, had my breakie and coffee in my office room. I walked out to the reception. First time meeting the company gardener. Instantly my mind wandered to Desperate Housewives show. He is C-U-T-E ! Hahahaha... Will try to snap a picture if I have the chance. But first, need to ask what is his schedule. Hiaks! So what if I'm married, I can still appreciate a good eye candy, right?
