My First Balik Kampung

Spent 2 weekends in KL, weekdays in Singapore for conference. Once touch down, immediately hit the mamak and hawker stalls... ; p Frankly speaking I didn't have enough. My list was not fulfilled. The high points of the trip was meeting up with my buddies... *gosh* how I miss them.

There's no holiday here... sigh... Working on CNY. No celebration. No angpao, No CNY cookies. No friends. No relatives. Every year have been doing the CNY routine. Feel weird when falling out from the routine. I didn't quite enjoy the whole visit relatives home previously. But now I miss it. I used to be bored to death with the routine. Now I wish to be back home : (

My First Lazy Day

We just spend the whole Saturday relaxing at home. Yes, we can call this place home now :) It's warm, cozy... "homely" feeling. By late afternoon, I was restless, time to move our butts. Went to the city earlier just to "jalan-jalan" before meeting up with Dzung, Kieran & Michelle for dinner. Walked around Kings Cross, the red light district during the day time ; p We walked pas this inviting little park. Next thing we knew, bought newspapers and some drinks, sat there until it's time for dinner.

Last week, sent my precious baby to the garage to get her behind a fix... hehehe... now she has a brand new boot. Insurance claim here is so much less hassle compared to back home. I even got a rented car while my baby is in the workshop. We got this lovely drive.... :)


At first Kyle was rather shy in getting his picture snapped... just after some nudging, this was all he did... stick his head out for the pose... sigh...

My First National Park Visit

Australia Day was on Saturday hence Monday was a public holiday. It's so rare to have a public holiday here. In Sydney, there's only 9 holidays! How I miss the work days in KL and PJ which have so many days off... sigh...

Kyle, myself and together with 3 other friends, Michelle, Dzung & Kieran, took the opportunity to do something... do some exploration... ;) We went to one of the nearby national parks.
Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park is where the Hawkesbury River meets the sea: a tight cluster of secretive, winding creeks, sheltered beaches, hidden coves and wide expanses of deep blue water. You'll find heathlands on the sandstone ridges, dense forests on the slopes, and mangroves on the tidal mudflats.

The park's scenic beauty is combined with a rich Aboriginal heritage and a strong sense of history. So it's hardly surprising that millions of walkers, boaters, swimmers and picnickers have visited this icon Sydney park since it opened in 1894.

Bairne Track
11 km, 2.5 hours, easy
This might be a long walk, but it's along the ridge tops - and the views are definitely worth it! It starts at the Number 8 Post on West Head Road, 6.1 kilometres from the Coal and Candle Drive junction. Take the service trail through heathland and woodland to Towlers Bay lookout, where there's a magnificent view up and down Pittwater. After this, head back up the track and veer off to Soldiers Point for more great views of The Basin and northern Pittwater. Retrace your steps back to West Head Road - or catch a ferry to The Basin from Bonnie Doon Wharf at Soldiers Point (service runs hourly).

My First Jazz Festival

The turn out was simply amazing... thousands of people ! I think people were just looking for an excuse to get out. I don't think they were enjoying the jazz music. More of drinking and socializing. Whenever there's an outing, there's always food !
Picnic is so nice here... I'm beginning to like sitting on the grass with picnic blanket, nibbling on finger food and weather is just perfect... unlike the condition back in KL. If you wanna sit on the grass... FIRST check there's an doggie poo ! SECOND check are you mentally insane... unless you wanna get a heat stroke... ; p
